GBICs

Cisco GBIC - Cisco 1000BASE-LX/LH GBIC Transceiver - Cisco 1000base GBIC Transceiver

If you use multiple different optical technologies, then you need GBICs from Opticfit. GBIC is short for gigabit interface converter; a standard for transceivers, commonly used with Gigabit Ethernet and fiber channel. It converts serial electric signals to serial optical signals and vice versa, allowing designers to design one type of device that can be adapted for either optical or copper applications. By offering standard, hot swappable electrical interface, it adds to the ease of upgrading electro-optical communications network and it can support a wide range of physical media, from copper to long-wave single-mode optical fiber, at lengths of hundred of kilometers.

GBICs are cost effective and make the network system flexible. Typically GBIC fiber optic end the interface is SC type, the laser unit in GBIC module can be 850nm VCSEL, 1310nm FP, 1310nm DFB, and 1550nm DFB. At Opticfit, we have GBICs that are based on working wavelengths, data transmitting rate, working power, and working distance, and not to mention Opticfit GBICs are Cisco compatible.
